About The Event
About Dialectica:
Dialectica is an all-female saxophone quartet from Toronto. With equal parts jazz and classical saxophonists, Dialectica attempts to find an aesthetic truth through the discourse of these two musical points of view, akin to the Dialectic method of philosophy found in Plato’s Socratic Dialogues. Dialectica plays a unique repertoire of all-original, Canadian music by saxophonist/composers Shannon Graham and Chelsea McBride, and Mexican-Canadian composer Javier Vazquez, in a style that combines jazz, classical, and Latin music. Dialectica’s performance highlights include Music Gallery’s X Avant Festival, Music Mondays series at Church of the Holy Trinity, the Toronto Jazz Festival, and the Intersection new music festival at Yonge and Dundas square.
